Established in the heart of the East Village in 1970, the Open Pantry represents three generations of commitment, quality and customer satisfaction. Family owned and operated, The Open Pantry, selling its first cup of coffee for 50 cents, began as a grocery store. Gentrification of the neighborhood brought with it the need for further diversity and change and in 1980, the Open Pantry began to sell a variety of gourmet coffee beans. Subsequently, organic groceries and vitamins were added to our inventory and the Open Pantry evolved into the business that it is today.
Today, we sell over 50 varieties of coffee beans, including dark, medium and light roasts from all over the world, as well as a full line of eclectic flavors such as pumpkin spice, chocolate toffee, blueberry cobbler, and fair trade organic coffee beans.
Although the years have brought changes in the neighborhood and our products, at its core the Open Pantry remains the same, a family business dedicated to bringing customers the highest quality products while maintaining diversity in choice, competitive pricing, and knowledgeable and dedicated staff. The past 29 years have reinforced our unwavering commitment to excellence and devotion to old fashioned customer service.
